Your data, in plain words

Sportive Circle is a student project that helps UW students find people to play sports with. It is not run by the University of Washington. We collect only what the app needs, we never sell it, and there are no ads.

What we collect

• Your account: name, UW email, password (stored scrambled, never readable), date of birth (only to check you're old enough and to say happy birthday), and graduation year if you add it.
• Your profile: photo, bio, the sports you like, and, only if you add them, pronouns, gender and social media usernames.
• What you do in the app: games you host or join, badges, friends, clubs you follow or join, messages, and reports you send.

What we don't collect

• Your location. "Where am I?" on a map runs only in your browser and is never sent to us.
• Photo metadata. We remove hidden info (like where a photo was taken) when you upload it.
• No tracking cookies and no advertising. The only cookie keeps you logged in.

Who can see what

• Your name, photo, class year, bio, sports, badges, and any pronouns, gender or socials you add are visible to other logged-in UW students.
• Your email is visible only to you, people you've played a game with, and the officers of clubs you're a member of (for the club's roster).
• Direct messages are visible to you and the other person. Event chats are visible to everyone going to that event.
• If you report something, a copy goes to our admins so they can review it. The person isn't told who reported them.
• Suggestions you send are read only by our admins, with your name unless you choose "Send anonymously".
• Admins can see account details when they need to handle a report or verify a club.

Other services the app uses

• Email: codes, reminders and club notices are sent through our email provider.
• Maps: map images come from OpenStreetMap, and the map code from cdnjs. Your browser downloads them directly, so those services see your IP address, like any website you visit. Directions open in Google Maps or Apple Maps only if you tap them.
• Fonts: one font comes from Google Fonts.

Your choices

• Edit your profile, photo and sports any time in Profile → Edit profile. Email reminders and notifications are in Settings.
• Delete your account in Settings. Your profile, photo, games you host, messages and badges are deleted right away. Reports about other people stay for safety, without your name.
